Summer Sizzler

Overview

See if you can Handle The Heat this summer as the AKYSB brings you a fun day of sporting activities for the whole family at the Summer Sizzler, to be held on Sunday 30 June, at JFS School, Kenton, London.

Summer Sizzler provides an opportunity for the UK Jurisdiction Jamat to come together and take part in popular mixed gender sports as well as a range of other fun activities. The Jamat’s non-Ismaili spouses and children are encouraged to attend and participate.

Sports & Activities

The following sports and activities are available at the 2013 Summer Sizzler*:

O16s Sports

  • Mixed Dodgeball
  • Mixed Netball
  • Mixed International Volleyball
  • Mixed Rounders (Drop In)

U16s Sports Day 

The Summer Sizzler promises to be a fun filled day for 6-15 year olds. Registration includes the chance to take part in all of the activities, which include:

  • Tug of war
  • Sack race relays
  • Wheelbarrow race relays
  • Egg and spoon relays
  • Sprints
  • Rounders
  • Bouncy inflatable games
  • Fun fair stalls
  • …..And more to be announced closer to the day!

Applications will be on an individual basis and participants will be allocated teams before the event. If you or your child would like to be in a certain team, then please email us at: summersizzler@iiuk.org and we will do our best to facilitate.

U5s Activities

The Early Childhood Education & Development committee will also be present running a dedicated area for zero to five year olds. On offer will be a variety of activities guaranteed to stimulate parents, carers and children including parachute games, giant skittles, music and rhyme and much more!

If you would like to register your child for the zero to five year old area, please email the ECED Team at eced@iiuk.org stating your name and contact details, along with your child’s name and age.

*All categories are subject to demand and require participation from a minimum number of players and teams in order to be held. We reserve the right to cancel play of any given category if the minimum numbers are not received by the deadline date.

From the North
  1. Take the M1 towards Edgware / Watford
  2. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Spur Road / A410

From the East/North London
  1. Take the A406 towards Wembley
  2. Exit onto A408 toward Kingsbury

From the South
  1. From the South, get yourselves to the M25 towards M4 / Heathrow Airport in the most efficient way possible for you
  2. Get off the M4 at junction 3 and follow signs to the A40 westbound
  3. Come off the A40 at Hanger Lane roundabout
  4. Take the 2nd exit to the A406 towards Wembley
  5. Slight left onto Neasden Lane North
  6. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A4088

Parking

There are ample parking spaces available at the site on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment. Please do not park on the driveway leading up to the main buildings as this needs to be kept clear in case of emergencies.

Public Transport

Travelling by bus: routes 628, 653, 683, 688 and 79 all stop along The Mall. Please check Transport for London website below for bus routes in Kenton.

Travelling by Tube: Kingsbury is the nearest tube station and is on the Jubilee line. It’s approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the tube stop to the venue. Use the tube map to plan your journey.

U16s can register for the Sports Day Activities until 3pm on Saturday 29 June by clicking here.

Registrations for O16s Sports have now closed. However, please still come down with your family and friends to enjoy a great day out,  and our Sizzzzzzling BBQ lunch!
