After you complete the application process, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt. It’s important to note that due to high demand for our programmes and our commitment to ensuring equitable access, we cannot guarantee a place for every application. If your application is not initially accepted, it will be automatically added to a waiting list.<\/p>

All of our camps offer a combination of outdoor adventures and engaging workshops. Specially trained instructors prioritise safety above all else and provide expert guidance for activities tailored to each camp’s unique location. Participants can expect land-based activities (climbing), water activities (rafting), and rope-based challenges in the air, ensuring a diverse and enjoyable experience. Each activity is designed to encourage participants to challenge themselves in a friendly, safe, and supportive environment.<\/p>

For Al-Ummah participants, there’s also an exciting opportunity for an overnight expedition in the picturesque mountains of the Lake District.<\/span><\/p>

Our interactive workshops, facilitated by dedicated volunteers, cater to different age groups. For the younger camps, workshops focus on reflection and value-based activities, while the older camps emphasise the development of soft skills, and critical thinking. Each camp maintains a 1:5 volunteer-to-participant ratio to ensure personalised attention and a safe environment.<\/p>

All our volunteers and adults present at the camp undergo a thorough screening process. This includes a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of our volunteer recruitment process. The safety of our participants is our top priority, and we take every measure to ensure a safe and trustworthy environment.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Due to the high demand for facilitator positions and our commitment to offering opportunities across the camps, facilitators may apply for a maximum of two camps<\/strong> and can attend one camp. This policy is in place to ensure that you apply to the camp that aligns best with your skills, abilities, time commitments and interests.<\/p>

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who possess excellent communication skills, enjoy working as part of a team of like-minded people and have a genuine passion for working with youth. The age criteria for facilitators varies for each camp (see below). Facilitators must meet the minimum age requirement for the respective camp on or before the camp’s start date.<\/p>

As a facilitator, your main responsibilities will include looking after a group of participants, ensuring their safety, and promoting their wellbeing for the duration of camp. This will involve fostering an inclusive and positive camp environment for all participants. Additionally, facilitators are encouraged to actively engage in and supervise participants during the outdoor activities led by the site staff.<\/p>

You’ll also have exciting opportunities to play a role in designing and planning evening entertainment activities and leading interactive workshops during the day that are tailored to the participants’ ages and align with the camp theme. This creative involvement enhances the overall camp atmosphere and ensures a memorable experience for all.<\/p>

To equip you to take on these responsibilities, comprehensive training will be provided. The application process involves completing a short online form with your details and a few short questions on your motivation for applying, what you hope to gain from the role and outlining any relevant experience you may have (these questions may vary depending on the camp you are applying for). <\/span>Please note previous experience of working with the youth is not mandatory for applying.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

All facilitators will be invited to take part in an informal virtual interview with members of the camps team. Applicants will be notified of the outcome after this. Whilst we recognise that this is a volunteering opportunity and it can be disheartening to be turned away from such a role, we are committed to providing feedback on all applications to provide areas of improvement going forwards and in signposting future opportunities across other areas of the Institutions.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Facilitator training is a big part of our camp journey and all facilitators are required to attend in person training sessions before attending camp. Dates of these sessions can be found in the application forms. The number of training sessions will vary depending on the camp and training topics will cover participant safety, youth mental health and safeguarding, facilitation skills, workshop specific training and understanding of relevant camp procedures.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Facilitators will be expected to attend training sessions which can vary for each camp, and of course attend the camp itself! Facilitators will also be required to complete pre-camp communication tasks with their respective participants and work with the camp project teams for any administrative tasks. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Facilitators will be supported by a dedicated project team who will be responsible for providing mentorship and guidance before and during camp.
